Submarine Cincinnati Memorial Association (SCMA) is an Ohio non-profit corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio, organized and operated exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, and it uses donations to commemorate the service of US Navy submarine USS Cincinnati (SSN-693), to preserve submarine artifacts as a monument for public display, to provide education in history, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and to raise funds and receive contributions, grants, and services. SCMA has not yet received a determination letter from the IRS stating that it is an organization exempt from federal income taxation under section 501(a) and described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. However, all donations intended for SCMA are made to its funding agent, the Northern Cincinnati Foundation, which has received a determination letter from the IRS stating that it is an organization exempt from federal income taxation under section 501(a) and described in section 501(c)(3), and therefore such donations can be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS.
